over the holidays my husband and i took a trip to his old stomping grounds in san francisco. i had never seen the city so we spent a full 10 days traveling around the bay area so i could get a sampling of everything it had to offer. trip highlights were san francisco itself (of course), big sur, napa, and the touristy staple alcatraz. goes without saying that i had the best sushi of my life. here are some of my favorite shots from the trip.
from the flight in. i love aerial photos. i don’t always have the opportunity to be up that high.
from the marin headlands. if i lived in the bay area i think i’d spend every sunday morning here.
definitely not a place that you would want to be locked up (not that you would want to be locked up anywhere).
alcatraz library with two lonely bookshelves.
big sur’s rocky coast
and what’s a trip to the bay area without a stop in napa. the countryside was gorgeous but these barrels in the cellar at cakebread were the reason we visited.
most of my vacation photos were instagrams. it’s not always practical to carry around a bulky DSLR everywhere when you’re trying to just relax and enjoy yourself. right to left from top: our view from our room at the mark hopkins hotel, the beautiful drive at opus one in napa, golden gate bridge, big sur, alcatraz block, fancy room service, marin headlands, the most wonderful eating experience i’ve ever had, grace cathedral.
